In March 2016, the SFAC received the Community Lifesaver Award from the National Drowning Prevention Alliance (NDPA). This is the first time that a city of Summit’s size has been recognized in this award category.
The Community Lifesaver Award serves to recognize outstanding efforts made by a facility to spread water safety awareness. Several of the SFAC's campaigns including “I’m watching your child, you should be too,” Shark Diddy TV, Splash & Learn, and its free life jacket rental and swim test programs were recognized during the March 2016 NDPA Conference.
The NDPA is a non-profit government organization committed to drowning prevention education and was originally formed by people who have lost loved ones to drowning. The SFAC is proud to join the Alliance and remains committed to helping to prevent drowning and water-related injuries or illnesses through its educational campaigns for years to come.
