League Information

The City of Summit Department of Community Programs is offering our “In Town” Recreation Basketball League. All games and practices will be held right here in Summit. 

The games will be officiated by carded referees. Participants will receive a reversible team jersey. 

ABSOLUTELY NO TEAM REQUESTS, Sorry!

• Open to All Summit Residents Grades 3-8. Teams will be formed based on a skill evaluation (see below for dates).

• The high school league will continue this year. Details TBD. Registration is now open. 

• We will accept TWO parent coaches per team, after teams are created, we will request additional assistant coaches where necessary. Strict maximum on two parent coaches per team. This is being done to prevent team stacking.
• Parents can register to be volunteer coaches through Civic Rec.
• Each team will be guaranteed to have at least three players from each elementary school.
• If your child is not able to participate on the team assigned due to day of the week conflict, a refund may be issued. We will not guarantee any team changes. 

Cost: $160 per participant

Grades 3-4:

3rd/4th Grade Girls & 4th Grade Boys practices and games at Community Center (Guida Gym)

3rd Grade Boys - practices and games at Brayton School

• Practice - ONE weekday (varies based on team, will be same day throughout season)
• Games - Saturday 

Grades 5-6:

5th/6th Grade Boys & Girls - practices and games at Middle School

• Practice - Saturday
• Game - Sunday 

Grade 7-8:

7th/8th Grade Boys & Girls - practices and games at Community Center (Investors Gym)

• Practices and Games TBD based on coaching schedules 

High School: TBA

Step 1: Registration Deadline - Monday, November 10

Step 2: Skills Assessments - November 12-20

• 3rd Grade Girls: Wednesday, November 12 from 3:45-4:45pm (Guida Gym)
• 3rd Grade Boys: Thursday, November 13 from 3:45-4:45pm (Guida Gym)
• 4th Grade Girls: Monday, November 17 from 3:45-4:45pm (Guida Gym)
• 4th Grade Boys: Tuesday, November 18 from 3:45-4:45pm (Guida Gym)
• 5th Grade Girls: Wednesday, November 19 from 3:45-4:45pm (Guida Gym)
• 5th Grade Boys: Thursday, November 20 from 3:45-4:45pm (Guida Gym)
• Saturday, November 22:
• 8AM - 6th Grade Boys (Guida Gym)
• 9AM - 6th Grade Girls (Guida Gym)
• 10 AM - 7th/8th Girls (Guida Gym)
• 11 AM - 7/8th Boys (Guida Gym)

If you cannot make the skill assessment, please email dguidajr@cityofsummit.org with a detailed assessment of your child's skill ability. 

Step 3: Team Assignments - No Later than December 3

Please note that prior to the coaches meeting and the release of team assignments, we will not be able to provide any information on team assignments or additional information regarding practice and/or game times.

Step 4: Pre-Season - December 13-21

• A full week of practices will run from December 13 through December 19.
• During the weekend of December 20/21, there will be a weekend of scrimmages.

Step 5: Regular Season - January 5 through March 8

• No practices or games will take place from December 22 through January 4
• Regular season will begin January 5, 2025
• There will be practice and games on MLK weekend (1/17-1/19)
• There will be no practices or games President’s Day weekend (2/14-2/16)
• March 7 and March 8 will be Championship games
