Tatlock Field Bleacher Replacement

In 2016, the artificial turf on the field was replaced after 11 years of use with a high quality product manufactured by Desso Industries that until this installation was only used on professional fields.

Next on the agenda for long term improvements are the bleachers and press box at the field.

The firm of Cypreco Industries of Neptune, NJ was awarded the contract to replace all of the bleachers in the stadium as well as the press box. The cost of the replacement project is

$ 740,823.00. Funding was provided through the City’s Capital Improvement Budget, a grant through the Union County Kids Recreation Trust Fund and the City’s Field Restoration Fund. Cypreco Industries is experienced in this type of project having successfully completed projects throughout New Jersey.

The old bleachers have served spectators well but it’s time for a change in order to meet current ADA requirements and national codes. The project was designed by Tom Miller of Premiere Product Design. PPD was also responsible for the successful design and construction of the new tennis complex at Tatlock Park.

The new bleachers and press box will proudly exhibit Summit pride in utilizing Hilltopper maroon in the design. The new bleachers and press box will be great compliment to the new artificial turf and sound system at Investors Bank Field.

Demolition of the existing bleachers has begun on the visitor’s side of the stadium and will be the first area completed to provide seating as soon possible for spring sports. The project will then move to the home team side with a goal of being complete in time for the SHS Class of 2017 Graduation.

Residents are asked to please respect the marked construction areas and heed the warning signs for their own safety. During construction the field and track will be open and available to residents and sports organizations. This project is heavily reliant on weather conditions and phasing needed to accommodate a busy athletic schedule. Cypreco Industries is committed to working around the weather conditions to ensure a successful outcome.

Residents with questions about the project are welcome to contact jcolucci@cityofsummit.org
