Thursday Social Skills Classes
Winter Session: Thursday, January 16 through March 12 (no class on 3/5)
Spring Session: Thursday, April 2 through June 4 (no class 4/9 or 5/21)

Let’s Pretend for ages 3-5 (4:30-5:30) - $160 for 8 week session
Class works on developing play and social skills including pretend, sharing, compromise, social language using coordinated play, role play, and other techniques. Children practice specific social skills through play and participation with peers and mentors. Parents hear skills to target out of class with suggested strategies.
Let’s Talk Pragmatics for ages 6-10 (5:30-6:30) - $160 for 8 week session
In this class, we specifically target languages skills we use in our daily interactions with others. They include what we say, how we say it, our body language and whether it is appropriate to the given situation. We will build skills in communicating our personal thoughts, ideas and feelings. Through activities such as role playing, social stories, partner activities, games, and conversation building activities, we will work on increasing fluency of social language.
Digital Drama for ages 10-12 (6:30-7:30) - $160 for 8 week session
Class harnesses technology kids love to help teach life and social skills such as cooperation, compromise, conversation and safety skills as well as independence and appropriate behaviors in various activities. Children gain experience using computers for writing, planning and presenting mini-movies using Microsoft and Apple tools. Students will help select topics but examples could be how to be with peers at recess or lunch, going to a restaurant, visiting relatives, starting conversation.
Teen Friendship for ages 13-18 (7:30-8:30) - $160 for 8 week session
A teen group that will meet and practice social skills in the natural environment. Teens participate in activities such as cooking, board/other games, learning new computer skills, pottery/art activities, movie and book reviews/discussions, creating mini-movies on flip cameras, and more group interest. Group also works on relationship building, conversation and expanding personal interests..
Classes are taught by Jennifer Bie. Jennifer has an undergraduate degree from Seton Hall in Early Childhood Education and Special Education. Additionally, Ms. Bie has a Masters Degree from Columbia University. Ms. Bie is also a BCBA.
