Field Hockey LEAGUE
Summit’s Youth Field Hockey Program - Travel League for Grades 2-6
Register through our new Civic Rec Program HERE
This year the Summit Department of Community programs is excited to introduce a new Field Hockey Program for players between 2nd and 6th grades of all levels of experience from beginners to advanced players.
We will participate in the Mid Jersey Youth Field Hockey League. Towns historically in the league include Bridgewater, Branchburg, Madison, Long Hill, Hillsborough, Clark, Westfield, Chatham, Morristown, Metuchen, and Basking Ridge.
Our focus is on fun, friendships and field hockey (in that order!). Registration opens July 28, 2023 at 12:30PM. Our season begins after Labor Day and run until late Oct/early Nov. The program practices once per week on Monday from 7-8:30 PM and/or Thursdays from 5:30-7:00* and plays local games on Sundays (or an occasional Saturday afternoon) at the Upper High School Field. The Club is open to all residents without regard to financial status. If you need financial assistance, please contact the Department of Community Programs at 908-277-2932.
*Thursday practices will be at the Middle School on the grass field
All players in 2nd through 6th grades are required to have a Summit Field Hockey Uniform. A uniform kit includes Jersey, Skirt, one pair of white and one pair of maroon knee socks.
Spandex shorts should be worn, but are not included in the purchase of the uniform kit. The uniform kit must be purchased by all first time players.
Because this year is our first year participating in a Field Hockey League, the uniform kit is automatically included in all registrations.
- Registration Fee: $125
- Uniform Fee: $100
- Total Registration: $225
Parents List to Purchase (not included in registration):
- All players MUST have a well fitted mouth guard in order to participate in any game or practice, including goalies. Mouth Guards should be worn at times.
- All players will need a regulation field hockey stick. Tip for new players: don't purchase an expensive new stick. Look to borrow one, find one used or purchase a less expensive beginner package.
- All players will need shin guards. Players can use the larger style shin guards or smaller soccer style.
